Football legend dies: Club pays tribute to ‘selfless champion’ after great’s sudden death rocks sport

It is with incredible sadness that the Club has been informed that North Fremantle great Scott Misich passed away on Wednesday 17th April. Scott is a champion Clubman, a selfless and loving man who made an impact wherever he went.

A key part of the Misich dynasty at North Freo, Scott joined the club in 1993. Like his brother Tully before him, he quickly worked his way up league teams and both were named to the All Star team. Scott spent time in the WAFL with Claremont and East Fremantle. However, his passion was at North, where he returned to fulfill his highly decorated football career and in 1996, Scott was honored with the Laurie Tetley Medal for the Club’s Best and Fairest.

Scott had a long and fruitful playing career, highlighted in 2003 where he was an integral player in the A Grade Premiership winning team. For those of you who have heard him remind everyone of his performance that day, his gospel recollection of his exploits makes everyone smile. After being eliminated in the third quarter following a late hit, which caused a commotion in the stands, Scott returned to the field and continued his dominant performance for which he received the BJ Giles best-in-field medal.

He played a total of 219 games with the White and Black.

Scotty went on to coach, starting with the Colts from 2002 to 2004, the latter where he won the premiership. He then spent several years as a successful league coach in 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012, leading the league team to two Grade A Grand Finals. He also coached the reserves in 2013, 2014 and 2015.

A true member of the club, Scott has regularly been seen running water for the Colts or singing a song in the Club room. He is a great personality and will be missed.
