Foodies are going wild in search of a rare new Easter treat, but it’s only sold in one store in Australia.
Bruce Super Convenience, in Bruce, Canberra, is the only Australian store to stock Lotus biscuit-filled chocolate eggs and can’t keep up with demand as shoppers rush to try them before Easter.
As they’re delivered express from Belgium, they cost a whopping $39.99 for a 250g bag of mini eggs – but customers say the hefty price is worth it.
Dejan, owner of Bruce Super Convenience, told FEMAIL there is only a very small profit margin on Biscoff eggs because it is a premium product in Europe and expensive to ship.
He said the chocolates were sold out the same evening he received his last delivery of the year, March 7, but he added more could be on the way for sweet-loving Australians.
Foodies love Lotus Biscoff Easter Eggs which are only available in one store in Australia. Nectro Vlangos, aka nectoriouspapi, said they were “one of the best Easter eggs ever.”
Biscoff eggs cost $40 a bag and are available only at Bruce Super Convenience, in Bruce, Canberra, where they continually sell out.
“We bought them directly from a supplier in Belgium. Biscoff is not only really fashionable, but it’s something I’m a huge fan of. I bought them mainly for my sweet tooth,” he joked.
Lotus Biscoff Filled Easter Eggs feature Biscoff caramel with crunchy flecks wrapped in creamy chocolate.
Each bag comes with a variety of milk chocolate or white chocolate or a combination of both.
Nectro Vlangos, food blogger and podcaster from Melbourne, who stops by nectoriouspapi online, told FEMAIL he would be happy to pay the $40 price again, knowing they are only available overseas.
He sampled the milk chocolate and white chocolate eggs after being lucky enough to get his hands on a packet of each, leaving fans drooling.
“They’re both amazing and I wouldn’t complain about either of them, but if I had to pick one, it’s definitely the white one,” Nectro said in an online clip.
The Melbourne food podcaster said he would happily pay the exorbitant price of $40 for a bag of Biscoff eggs again, knowing how rare they are in Australia.
“But they’re both bombs, one of the best Easter eggs ever.”
Viewers were sent into a tailspin and eager to know where they could try Biscoff Eggs for themselves.
“We’re on the hunt!” » one woman said and another wrote: “It’s not a want, it’s a need.”
“One bite, you’re in heaven.” By the second bite you are LITERALLY in heaven,” replied a third.
“I just lost 30 pounds, I didn’t need to know that,” laughed a fourth and someone added: “Take my money!”
Dejan initially thought the egg delivery on March 7 would be the last of the year, but he managed to get an extra box.
Customers can get their hands on a pack in-store or online from Thursday March 21 from 6pm AEDT.
