A popular dessert chain has announced the closure of its last store after seven years in business, devastating its fans.

Lukoumades in Hyde Park, South Australia is best known for its delicious Greek doughnuts topped with a delicious selection of toppings, including caramel, chocolate, honey, fruit and nuts.

But the long-loved brand shared the devastating news in an emotional Instagram post that shocked fans.

The company thanked its loyal customers who supported it during difficult times.

“It’s been a fantastic seven years, full of ups and downs,” the post said.

‘However, we have made a difficult decision and have decided that our time in Hyde Park has come to an end.

“This has an immediate effect. We want to express our gratitude to all of you for supporting us.”

But the brand still has its dessert truck up and running and “hopes to market its products at as many events as possible” to continue offering these delicious treats to customers.

As well as tasty doughnuts, the shop also sold thick milkshakes, chocolate fondue, ice cream and savoury options such as fried halloumi chips.

Customers were devastated after reading the social media post and took to the comments to share their condolences.

“Oh no, my kids are going to be devastated,” one wrote.

“It’s very sad to hear that. I hope to see them again in a permanent location,” another commented.

“They are certainly delicious and we hope to see you at the events,” said a third.
