A Sydney food and lifestyle blogger has made a $50 million windfall and sold her mansion for around $80 million after having bought it for $30 million just three years ago.

Stephanie Conley-Buhre and her venture capitalist husband, Oscar Buhre, bought the trophy home in eastern suburban Bellevue Hill in 2021 before spending about $20 million on renovations.

The couple added an indoor pool, three kitchens, a home gym, a day spa and a games room to the 10-bedroom Alcooringa on exclusive Victoria Road.

Among its other attractions are a ballroom, a private chapel, a ladies’ and gentlemen’s powder room, and a sweeping staircase along with an elevator to all levels.

There is a home office, billiards room, in-house gym and sauna, extensive wine cellar, catering kitchen and secure three-car garage with additional guest parking.

The home also comes with a detached three-bedroom guest cottage with separate entrance and garage.

Alcooringa was last sold for $28.5 million in 2021. Three years later it was resold for around $80 million.

The Spanish mission property called Alcooringa sits on a 1,560 square metre block and has panoramic views of Sydney Harbour, the city skyline, Harbour Bridge, Opera House and Manly.

In an interview with Home Beautiful magazine this year, the couple described how the house had been neglected for nearly 40 years when they bought it.

At the time, the house included a ballroom, a private chapel, a detached caretaker’s cottage, and some of the best views of Bellevue Hill.

The renovation and restoration was inspired by a trip to Spain to research ideas and finishes.

News of the deal came after a caveat was placed on the property’s title on Thursday, revealing that an expatriate based abroad, Hannah Chapman, had purchased the renovated home.

The deal will reveal whether Alcooringa tops last year’s estimated $80 million sale of the Elizabeth Bay Spanish Mission Boomerang residence by the family of billionaire Lindsay Fox, which ranks as Sydney’s fifth most expensive home sale.

The four-story 1930s mansion, designed by architect F. Glynn Gilling, was originally known as Biscaya.

Stephanie and Conley-Buhre and her venture capitalist husband, Oscar Buhre, sold their trophy home for an estimated $80 million.

The business couple also benefited from the sale of their previous home, which was also on Victoria Rd. in Bellevue Hill.

They bought it for $17.1 million in 2018 and sold it three years later, after a renovation and a new garden, for $30 million.

The couple are now said to be on the hunt for their next project, with the help of buyer’s agent Simon Cohen and a budget of between $40 million and $60 million.
