To begin their Day 2 work in the 2024 NHL draft on Saturday, the Flyers selected Jack Berglund, a 6-foot-4 center from Sweden.
The Flyers had the 51st overall pick as compensation for They did not sign 2018 first-round pick Jay O’Brien.
Berglund, a 210-pounder who can also play wing, scored 34 points (15 goals, 19 assists) in 41 games this season for Farjestad BK in Sweden’s top youth league.
At the 2024 IIHF World Junior U18 Championship a month and a half ago, Berglund scored five points (two goals, three assists) in seven games for a Swedish team that won bronze.
He got a taste of the SHL, Sweden’s top professional league, and scored one goal in eight games.
Berglund was the 28th ranked European skater NHL Central Scoutingrising 10 spots from its midterm mark. TSN’s Craig Button He considered him the 55th best player in the draft, while TSN’s Bob McKenzie I had it at number 64. EliteProspects.com fixed Berglund in 131st place.
