Employees of Floyd Mayweather's gym in Los Angeles have protested outside the gym

Employees at Floyd Mayweather’s Los Angeles gym have staged a protest at the gym after claiming they had not been paid for weeks by the boxing legend’s ‘Money Team’ company.

The irate staffers held up signs and shouted into a microphone outside the gym on Highland Avenue, which they say is being closed after failure to pay left them unable to cover rent and billing costs.

One of the signs accused Mayweather’s company of “modern slavery,” while another simply said, “The $ team has no $.”

“We’re here to let everyone know that they didn’t treat us well,” one of the employees said.

“Even if you work for another company and don’t get paid, you’re afraid to show up and say something because you know how companies work. They silence you and they fire you because everything is ‘at their discretion’.”

The disgruntled fitness workers also accuse the Mayweather Boxing + Fitness group of violating the California Labor Code, according to Resident.

California Labor Code 210 imposes fines on employers who fail to pay their employees on time, including fines of $100 and $200 for first and second violations.

If employers fail to pay after 30 days, the law states that employees are entitled to a full day’s wages at the regular rate for each day they fail to pay, and can file a lawsuit against them.

DailyMail.com has contacted Mayweather’s representatives for comment.

Mayweather, who pocketed an estimated $1.2 billion during his iconic boxing career, also saw one of his Elk Grove gyms close in May after the landlord filed a breach of contract lawsuit for more than $30,000 in missed rent payments.

Although they are outraged by the treatment they received, employees at the Los Angeles gym have no idea whether Floyd himself is aware of their financial complaints.

“Who knows if he knows or not? We don’t do that,” said another employee. “I was told we can’t tell him. I can’t tell him our studio is closing, and he was here two weeks ago. We have been silenced.”
