Boxing legend Floyd Mayweather has posted on social media that he is “standing with Israel against the Hamas terrorists.”
The 46-year-old American has joined millions of online users around the world in posting heartfelt messages of support for Israel.
It comes after Hamas militants launched rocket attacks on Israel and overran parts of the country, killing civilians and kidnapping others, prompting swift retaliation.
In a post on Instagram, Mayweather wrote: “I stand with Israel against the Hamas terrorists. Hamas does not represent the people of Palestine, but is a terrorist group that attacks innocent lives!
“I stand up for all people and wish for the safe return of all Americans and Israelis and all those kidnapped as hostages during these heinous war crimes.

‘This is no time for politics. This is first and foremost a time of safety.
‘God bless America. God bless Israel. God bless mankind!’
He included a photo of himself in the post from a previous visit to Jerusalem.
He is not the first sportsman to publicly express his support for Israel.
Arsenal’s Oleksandr Zinchenko decided to restrict his Instagram profile to the public after being targeted by social media trolls after posting that he is ‘on Israel’s side’.
