Jeff Mayweather, Floyd’s uncle, told it VegasInsider.com of his potential return: ‘Floyd talks about the possibility of fighting McGregor and Khabib on the same day, which he could easily make happen. There have already been discussions with Floyd and Dana White about closing a deal.
‘Floyd is no longer the top of his sport, but he will beat them both. He could beat them both back to back, one during the day, one during the day – it doesn’t matter, they wouldn’t have a chance, it’s easy for him.
“Floyd said one during the day and one at night, it will be something that has never been done before. Double pay-per-view, expensive ** purchase. He would eliminate Conor early **, because if he knows he has a second fight, he won’t go on a show like last time. He had defeated the Conor kid.
“Floyd is a master at planning these things. He is the one who always turns nothing into something big. These things are expected of him. It is evolution, times change. You have to roll with it, and if you don’t roll, you lose.
“Why would he stay retired if he could fight UFC guys who couldn’t beat him up when he was 60? At some point he has to retire, but if he is going to fight with guys who never really box, why not continue? He has received more than these guys could ever learn, so why not accept the money?
“I’m sure it will be hard for him to come back because he has been out of action for a while, but he is going back to the same old mode – and when he enters that mode, you choose a UFC hunter in the damn world, they won’t touch him. Easy.
UFC President Dana White (right) believes that a major money deal should be concluded with Mayweather
Mayweather himself said last week that he is open to the idea of arranging a rematch with McGregor and a fight with his UFC rival Khabib.
The 42-year-old drums up speculation with a series of social media messages that go to Instagram to promote ‘Mayweather McGregor 2, 2020’.
The undefeated boxing legend provided more clarity and recently spoke as a guest on the Drink Champs podcast.
“I even talked about fighting Khabib and Conor on the same day,” Mayweather revealed.
‘Khabib by day and Conor by night. You pay a fee, probably $ 250 (£ 190), and you get both fights. “
UFC President Dana White has made no secret of his willingness to facilitate a second blockbuster Mayweather-McGregor confrontation, after the first encounter collapsed as one of the most lucrative in boxing history.
Speaking of Mayweather in the air in the immediate aftermath of McGregor’s recent UFC victory over Donald Cerrone, White seemed confident that something could happen.
“We will see what happens. The discussions are always ongoing. They never stop, “he said.
“You know that Floyd goes through money quickly. He is far from retired and that rematch will happen at some point. “
Mayweather, who has already won 50 of his professional fights, fought McGregor in his last fight in August 2017.
The American beat McGregor in the 10th round to cash a check for $ 100m (£ 77m).
