Floyd Mayweather admits he was ‘surprised’ by how good Logan Paul was when he took down the failure to stop YouTuber-turned-boxer in their glitzy eight-round exhibition, insisting ‘I’m not 21 anymore’

Floyd Mayweather admitted he was surprised by how good Logan Paul was after their eight-lap practice fight in Miami had gone so far.

Mayweather, 44, outclassed Paul for much of the fight but was unable to land that all-important knockout, which was the only way to win as there were no front-line judges.

However, Paul, who had become a boxer from YouTube, showed composure to maintain his form and tried to land combinations, although they often came out of nowhere.

But for all of Mayweather’s elusiveness, his offensive skills didn’t bother Paul that much with the 26-year-old, who was more than two stone heavier, showed heart and a solid chin by taking some powerful shots.

Mayweather said afterwards: “As for the heavyweights and the big boys, it’s going to be tough, but he’s a tough, tough competitor.

“It was a good move, we had fun. I was surprised by him tonight, good job. He was better than I thought.

“He’s a good guy. I had fun. Tonight was a pleasant evening.

“I was fighting a heavyweight, but I had fun, even though he didn’t have much experience, he knew how to use his weight and tie me up, but I had fun and I’m sure he had fun.”

Trying to downplay his failure to beat Paul, Mayweather hinted that he wouldn’t be interested in fighting his brother Jake.

When asked if that could be for him next time, he added: “You have to realize I’m not 21 anymore. I’ve been in this sport for 25 years, but I had a good time tonight.’
