A Florida man has been arrested after allegedly crashing a stolen car through an airport security gate and then running into the cockpit of a Coast Guard plane.
Hamilton Moreno, 36, faces federal charges after allegedly crashing through a fence around Pinellas County’s St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport around 5 a.m. Saturday before running off the runway, according to the Pinellas Sherriff’s Department County.
Moreno used a vehicle allegedly stolen in Tampa earlier that evening, police said.
Airport agents began following Moreno, but he sped away and crashed into a security gate.
He put the car in a large hangar and ran into the cockpit of a parked C-130 plane, where police found him and took him into custody.
No injuries or material damage were reported at the scene.
Moreno was sent to the Pinellas County Jail and faces multiple charges, including fleeing and evasion, trespassing, car theft, burglary, two counts of criminal mischief and common traffic violations.
Moreno could also face federal charges, which are pending. His bail was set at $24,150.
After crashing the car, Moreno ran into the cockpit of a parked C-130 plane, where police found him and took him into custody.
