An elderly man has been arrested in Florida after allegedly stabbing his nephew several times for being in the bathroom for too long, police said.
Dan Johnson, 72, was charged with an aggravated battery with a deadly weapon on Tuesday night.
Investigators say he stabbed his cousin, 29-year-old Michael Johnson, four times with a six thousand butcher knife after a dispute over access to the bathroom in the victim's father's house.
Police were alerted to the property at 503 East Beresford Ave, in DeLand, yesterday at 7.30 p.m. after Michael called 911 that he had been stabbed several times.
He also told the operator that his attacker – whom he identified as his uncle – was still in the house.
& # 39; Hello, I need EVAC & # 39 ;, a panicky Michael can be heard asking during the call, interspersed with heavy breaths. & # 39; I was stabbed three or four times – please hurry up. & # 39;
The authorities arrived to find Michael with three stab wounds on his chest and stomach and one on his lower back.
He was flown to the Halifax health center and would be in a stable state.
According to police, Michael lives in his vehicle in the driveway of his father Willie Johnson.
Michael & # 39; s father had given him permission to use his shower shortly before the reported attack took place.
It is said that Dan Johnson slammed the door several times to tell his cousin that he had to hurry & # 39; and shouted at him to come out of the bathroom & # 39; & # 39; because he & # 39; had been in it too long & # 39 ;, reports a report.
The alleged attack took place at 503 East Beresford Ave yesterday at 7:30 PM. The police were summoned after the victim, Michael Johnson, called 911 to report that he would be stabbed
Michael says he called to his uncle and said to him: & # 39; I just got in here & # 39; but the uncle keeps banging on the door.
The 29-year-old said he then wrapped himself in a towel and opened the bathroom door, where his uncle repeatedly started punching him.
Michael said he realized that his uncle also had a knife in his hand and stabbed him several times during the fight.
According to police, Dan Johnson said he decided to stab his cousin because he & # 39; disrespectful & # 39; Has been.
He claimed that when his cousin opened the door to the bathroom, he cleaned up & # 39; was what the suspect regarded as an act of aggression.
Although the police report states that Michael did not take up a fight or verbal threats against the suspect, Dan Johnson entered his room and chose a narrow-blade butcher knife from his knife agent.
He claims that his cousin has taken a step towards him, so he stabbed him twice in the stomach, police say.
According to the Daytona Beach News Journal, Land Police Lieutenant Juan Millan, investigators said the knife reportedly used in the attack has been recovered, which Dan Johnson reportedly put back in his collection after the stabbing.
Dan Johnson is currently being held without bail in the Volusia County Branch prison. He will probably appear a court later this week.
