In a scene reminiscent of a Hollywood coming-of-age movie, a group of children in Florida made a horrifying discovery when they explored an abandoned house.
The local children, all boys, were exploring their surroundings on Thursday when they found the house on Memorial Drive in Avon Park.
The boys decided to venture out for a while and were stunned to discover skeletal remains.
Witnesses near the house said the boys came out telling them what they saw, all of them “white as sheets.”
The police finally arrived at the scene to investigate what was inside the house.

They told her Highlands-Sun News that they were able to find the remains of someone who had died in the house.
Authorities believed the person had died 12 months before the children found them.
Local sheriff’s deputies said the bones were found surrounded by clothing that had been scattered a short distance away and had collected dust.
A sleeping bag was also found nearby, meaning it is possible the person was staying there illegally when they died.
The house was abandoned and was never discovered because it was covered with tall mimosa trees and other shrubs.
They say that because of this, people driving by often don’t even notice the house is there.
Police believe the house was in ruins for some time before the person’s death.

Officers even reported hearing a buzzing sound from a bee hive inside the walls of the home.
The remains have not yet been identified, pending an investigation by the local coroner.
Public information officer Scott Dressel is using the incident to remind children to stay away from homes like that.
He adds that they ran the risk of not only disturbing themselves but also the beehive inside.
The Highlands County Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone with information about the home or the person who died there to contact them.
