Florence Welch takes the stage in Lisbon for the first time since revealing she had life-saving surgery

Date:

Florence Welch took the stage in Lisbon on Thursday for her first performance since revealing she had been forced to undergo life-saving surgery.

The Florence and The Machine frontwoman, 37, looked fabulous in a black sheer lace dress and went barefoot for the energetic performance.

After canceling a series of performances due to the hospital visit, the British singer seemed overjoyed to be back in front of an audience at the Meo Kalorama Festival.

Florence belted out her most famous hits and showed off her dance moves as her long auburn locks swung freely.

On Sunday, Florence admitted she’s “not strong enough yet” to describe her ordeal in detail, but assured her followers she would be performing again during her performance in Lisbon.

The You’ve Got The Love hitmaker cryptically added that she wishes the songs she performed on her Dance Fever tour were “less accurate in their prediction.”

Six days earlier, Florence announced that Florence and The Machine would no longer perform at the Zurich Open Air Festival and Rock en Seine ‘on medical advice’.

In her last message, Florence wrote, “I’m so sorry I’ve had to cancel the last few shows. My feet are fine, I had to have emergency surgery for reasons I don’t really feel strong enough for yet, but it saved my life.

‘And I’ll be back to finish the Dance Fever tour in Lisbon and Malaga (maybe not so much jumping, but you can do that for me).

Suffice to say I wish the songs were less accurate in their predictions. But creativity is a way of dealing with it, mythology is a way of giving meaning.

“And the dark fairytale of Dance Fever, with all its strange prophecies, will now give me much-needed strength and catharsis.”

It comes after she revealed on Instagram that the band would no longer be performing at the Zurich Open Air Festival and Rock en Seine.

She shares a story that reads, “Unfortunately, on medical advice, Florence + The Machine are unable to perform this weekend at Zurich Open Air Festival on August 25 and Rock En Seine on August 256. We appreciate your understanding and patience.”

In November, Florence admitted she was “heartbroken” when she postponed her Dance Fever tour after breaking her foot performing at London’s O2 Arena.

The singer said at the time: “I’m so sorry to say that after an x-ray it looks like I danced on a broken foot last night.

‘It’s not in my nature to postpone a show, certainly not a UK tour, but I’m in pain and as dancers know dancing to an injury is not a good idea. And they have been told not to act to prevent further damage.
