Wycombe took a huge step towards the League One play-off final with a thunderous 4-1 win in an action packed semi-final first leg at Fleetwood on Friday night.
Ched Evans only needed two minutes to cancel Nnamdi Ofoborh’s second minute opener for Wanderers for Alex Cairns’ own goal, but the visitors were back in the lead in a dramatic opening.
Lewis Coyle’s dismissal in the 33rd minute and David Wheeler’s goal at half time put Joey Barton’s side firmly on the hind leg and Alex Samuel exacerbated their misery 12 minutes after half time.
Fleetwood striker Paddy Madden was also eliminated six minutes before the end.
