Police have already made several arrests after 150 activists ‘violently’ tried to storm the building on Wednesday evening.
Hundreds of protesters gathered to call for a ceasefire in Israel’s Gaza conflict, but clashes soon broke out between protesters and DC Metro police.
Shocking images from the scene show a wave of protesters flowing towards the DNC building, held back by officers in high-vis vests.
U.S. Capitol Police are urging the public to avoid the area amid the chaos.
An anti-Israel protest has turned violent after about 150 activists tried to storm the DNC headquarters in Washington DC.
A statement said: ‘Right now, our officers are working to stop approximately 150 people who are illegally and violently protesting in the area of Canal Street and Ivy Street, SE.
‘Officers are making arrests. All members have been evacuated from the area. Please stay away.’
Video taken around 8:30 p.m. shows protesters clashing with police as they struggle to stop them.
