Nova radio host Ryan ‘Fitzy’ Fitzgerald looks unrecognizable as he shows off his bushy lockdown beard
It seems the lockdown has reached Ryan ‘fitzy’ Fitzgerald.
The Nova radio host looked unrecognizable as he rocked a bushy pepper beard in an Instagram video shared last week.
It’s far from the usual sleek look that Fitzy, 44, has maintained over the years, but it appears the former AFL player has grown his facial hair because he’s been ‘bored’ in lockdown.

In the video, Fitzy tells his followers that he has decided to prank his sons, Hewy and Lenny, about their obsession with AFL trading cards, to keep himself busy.
“My boys are looking for the Rory Sloane Adelaide Crows set,” he says. “There’s four in there, and if you get all four, you’ll get a 24-karat gold card.”
After revealing that he got the four cards in a trade, the bearded radio star stuffed the set into opened card packs and resealed them so his sons could open them.
Pranked: Fitzy told his followers he had decided to prank his sons, Hewy and Lenny, about their obsession with AFL trading cards by putting a rare set in resealed card packs
The video then goes to Fitzy’s sons who excitedly discover the rare set hidden in the packs, oblivious to the fact that their father planted them in them.
The Nova presenter and former Sydney Swans player later tells his sons that the opening of the pack was a ‘suture’ and that he ‘put the Rory Sloane cards in the packs!’
“I know,” Hewy replies, unimpressed. “You showed us the video where you put them in.”
“Ah, play along, boys?” says Fitzy jokingly. “You have a beauty, don’t you?”
Unamused: The Nova presenter and former Sydney Swans player later tells his sons that the pack’s opening was a ‘snag’, but Hewy and Lenny tell their dad they already knew
In the caption of the Instagram video, Fitzy Crows player Rory Sloane asks to “deliver this card (the card with golden tip and his profile on it) when we get out of lockdown.”
Rory says, ‘You must be bored, mate!! I should have signed them.’
Fitzy responds amusingly: “A sharp object will soon be shoved in your face Sloaney!!”
