“To be 100 percent honest, I really didn’t want to share this photo of me eating cake from my recent trip to Sydney, but I didn’t share it with you,” Kayla wrote on Twitter. Instagram.

“I didn’t want to offend anyone who is trying really hard to stay on track and achieve their goals, and I didn’t want you to look at this and feel confused.”

But since then, she’s decided to share the photo because she thinks it’s “important” to explain her food choices so that others can make the best choices for themselves, too.

“The truth is, the entire time I was in Sydney I was filming the content of my workouts, so when it came to lunch and dinner, I was craving things like cake and pasta — so that’s what I ate,” said Kayla.

“I know how different foods and portion sizes will affect my body, especially after working out all day, and on this day I chose to feed my body with something I really craved at the time,” she said.

“Anyone who knows me knows that I love food and eat a lot of it (usually healthy, but sometimes not).

“As long as I stay active, am aware of portion control and stick to my regular workouts, I know I can eat things like pasta for lunch and cake for dessert and still reach my fitness goals.”

The 30-year-old said that if you want to learn how different foods affect your body, it’s best to listen to them.

She recommends watching “how you feel” when you eat certain things — noting how your food choices affect not only your physical progress, but also your mental state and general well-being.

“There is no general approach or hidden secret when it comes to food,” she added.

“If you can strike a balance between being active, enjoying what you eat, and nourishing your body, you’re set for success. It just has to work for you.’
