I’m a celebrity… Get me out of here! Australia has officially announced the first star to enter the South African jungle on Sunday.

Matty ‘J’ Johnson confirmed Wednesday morning that he will be joining the 2025 lineup of contestants.

The Bachelor star, 37, joked that his lifelong dream was to “survive” in the jungle by eating nothing but “zebra testicles,” before asking his followers to wish him luck.

Dubbed “the protagonist who goes into the jungle,” Matty J was all smiles in the promotional images he shared on social media.

He also sported the red shirt, khaki shorts and uniform with wide-brimmed hat typically worn by I’m A Celebrity contestants.

‘The cat (or lion) is out of the bag!’ Matty J wrote in the caption.

‘It has always been a dream of mine to survive in the African jungle with nothing but zebra testicles and cold beans and this year it will be a reality. Wish me luck!’

Fans flocked to the comments to congratulate the former reality TV star turned social media influencer, with many pointing out one notable fact.

“I feel like the ‘who did better’ Britt or Matt memes are coming soon,” one person joked, referencing Brittany Hockley’s appearance on I’m A Celebrity in 2024.

Brittany starred on The Bachelor in 2018, a year after Matty J, and currently hosts the hit podcast Life Uncut with her wife Laura Byrne.

They are good friends behind the scenes, and fans have joked that Matty J got the idea to continue I’m a Celebrity from her.

‘What a way to start. Clearly, Britt spoke wonders to you about the jungle. “I can’t wait for you to take it home,” one follower wrote.

Other fans of the series also claimed that they would only tune in to watch the 2025 season of I’m A Celebrity thanks to Matty J.

‘Yeah! “Raygun might be worth watching,” said one, referencing rumors that controversial Olympic breakdancer Rachael Gunn will be in the next season.

‘I wasn’t going to watch it this year, but now I’m definitely with you, Matty. The best news ever,” wrote another.

A third commented: “Will definitely be watching now.”

Matty J first rose to fame on Georgia Love’s season of The Bachelorette in 2016, before becoming The Bachelor a year later.

Now he’s half of one of The Bachelor Australia franchise’s most successful love stories, and shares two daughters with his now wife Laura, 38.

The country was captivated when the couple found a connection on the matchmaking show in 2017.

But despite reuniting after their time on The Bachelor, the couple met before appearing on the show.

In 2017, she told OK magazine that they had bumped into each other in Sydney’s Bondi: “We crossed paths. He said something to my friend in the Icebergs sauna.

The lovebirds got engaged in 2018 while vacationing in Fiji, before welcoming two beautiful daughters: Marlie-Mae in 2019 and Lola in 2021.

Fans were quick to make jokes about Matty J and his wife Laura Byrne's close friend and podcast co-star Brittany Hockley, 37, (pictured) appearing on I'm A Celebrity.
