Netflix has just released the first trailer for its delightful new animated blockbuster Spellbound.
Set to premiere on the streaming giant on November 22, the charming fantasy comedy musical features the voices of Nicole Kidman and Javier Bardem.
Created by some of the talented filmmakers behind family favorites Toy Story, Cars, A Bug’s Life and Shrek, the film also stars West Side Story star Rachel Zegler.
And like those classics, Spellbound promises to be a life-changing romp for the whole family.
Set in a “magical” world known as Lumbria, the story centers on a teenage princess, Ellian (voiced by Rachel Zegler).
After her parents, Queen Ellsmere (voiced by Nicole Kidman) and King Solon (voiced by Javier Bardem), are turned into monsters by a “magic spell,” Ellian must find a way to save them and their kingdom from ruin.
The first trailer shows that fans can expect plenty of fun as Ellian embarks on her adventure.
The trailer begins with the young princess explaining to two old men in the royal palace that she “has a problem” with her parents.

He then explains: ‘They entered the Dark Forest and when they came back they were different…’
After the King and Queen emerge as giant monsters and begin terrorizing everyone in sight, one of the elders complains to Ellian, “I thought you were just being dramatic.”
“Why would I do that?” Ellian replies. “Because you’re a teenager,” she says.
Other spectacular scenes show the King and Queen being surrounded by the army and captured.
Meanwhile, Ellian plans an escape for her parents.
Together, the family embarks on an adventure across the kingdom to break the spell so the King and Queen can return to their human forms.
Also joining the cast are John Lithgow (The Crown), Nathan Lane (The Gilded Age), Jenifer Lewis (Rugrats) and Central Park star Titus Burgess.
Spellbound is directed by the filmmaker of Shrek Vicky Jenson and produced by John Lasseter, director of the much-loved animated classic Toy Story (1995).
Co-producers include David Ellison, Dana Goldberg and Bruce Anderson.
Rachel Zegler, 23, is ready to star in Disney’s “awake” remake of Snow White.
The ingénue became the target of criticism and hate online after being cast in the remake of the classic and began criticizing the original film in press interviews.
The charming fantasy comedy musical was created by some of the filmmaking talents behind beloved family favorites including Toy Story, Cars, A Bug’s Life and Shrek.
The young actress revealed she “hated” the original 1937 Disney classic and her “stalker” Prince, whose “strange” backstory will not appear in the new film, in a series of interviews that have sparked anger on social media.
She has also said that her film will take a new direction, stating: “She won’t be saved by the prince and she won’t dream of true love.”
The story centers on a teenage princess, Ellian (voiced by Zegler), who must find a way to break a spell that has turned her parents into “monsters.”
Zegler has been criticized from both sides for both perpetuating “woke” culture and being a “fake” feminist.
She was also criticized for portraying Snow White as a Latina. Both she and Disney addressed this backlash and defended the decision.
The American actress, from New Jersey, starred in The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes and the disaster comedy Y2K.
