Talking about adorable moments
The Wednesday before the Masters usually offers the sweetest moments of the week, when players head to Augusta’s par-3 course with their wives or girlfriends and their children acting as caddies.
The glamorous WAGs and other family members wear the famous white jumpsuits worn by caddies at Augusta, and some even try to have a couple of drinks.
And yesterday was no different when families returned to the course.
The Golden Bear is really cute.
Augusta National has seen many iconic moments, but Jack Nicklaus may have given it the most adorable.
As he was waved into position for the traditional photo of the honorary starters and their caddies, the 18-time major winner shared a loving moment with his 64-year-old wife, Barbara, who is on the bag.
“I have my caddy right here,” he declared as he put an arm around her shoulders.
An incredible player and a loving husband. Get yourself a man who can do both, ladies!
And we go!
Gary Player, 88, and Jack Nicklaus, 84, joke about the difficulties of bending over to put the ball on the tee at an older age.
But even well into their 80s, both icons hit decent tee shots. You never lose it…not that I ever had it.
Last but not least is Tom Watson, the young gun of this trio at the age of 74, and after some digging Nicklaus also finds his way.
And with that, Augusta President Fred Ridley declares the 88th Masters championship underway!
Pin positions
For field analysts, this is where players will – or should – shoot today…
T-minus five minutes
We’re just moments away from finally seeing some action.
In less than ten minutes the honorary starters will start the 2024 Masters.
In one of the Masters’ many beloved traditions, three legends of the game will take to the first tee to hit the ceremonial opening shots.
This year, the trio of all-time greats includes Jack Nicklaus, Gary Player and Tom Watson.
When two worlds collide
It’s not just golfers joining in on the action…
At one point last summer there was hope that by the time the game’s best players arrived at Magnolia Lane once again, the great divide would have healed itself.
Talks between the PGA Tour and the PIF continue around a mergerbut it is the Saudi-backed circuit that has proven to be the best poker player.
LIV again bet big in its offseason on the winner, shelling out $500 million to lure reigning Masters champion Jon Rahm into its plight, but the big gamble could pay off at Augusta National.
Greg Norman’s band of merry men will visit Augusta for the second year since he tore the golf world in two. Except this year they won’t be made fun of. This time they come with a happier step.
tiger test
Many of you are probably wondering what the weather delay means for Tiger. And honestly? It doesn’t look good.
The 15-time Major winner will now not tee off until 3:54 pm ET/8:54 pm BST, meaning his chances of finishing with a total of 18 today are… zero.
The 48-year-old will have to play the remainder of his first round tomorrow morning before returning to the course for his second. With probably between four and six holes left to play in addition to the 18 holes tomorrow, it will be a difficult task for Woods and his body.
Who plays and when?
With the weather delay pushing back tee times, here’s a refresher on what that means for the big names…
1:00 pm ET/6:00 pm ET | Jon Rahm, Matt Fitzpatrick, Nick Dunlap
1:12 p.m. ET/6:12 p.m. ET | Scottie Scheffler, Rory McIlroy, Xander Schauffele

4:30 pm ET/9:30 pm ET | Dustin Johnson, Collin Morikawa, Tommy Fleetwood

The game has been officially delayed until 10:30am ET/3:30pm BST, pushing all tee times back by two and a half hours.
The Spaniard will start at 11.42/16.42 as reported.
Pretty decent of them to be fair. It must be hard to keep up with tee times these days after two years of shotgun teeing at LIV Golf.
The show will go on
We have an update… but not from The Masters.
There is a light at the end of the storm, according to 2017 champion Sergio García.
The rebel LIV Golf has insisted on the show willpower Continue as he headed to X to reveal his new departure time of 11:42 am ET.
That’s a two and a half hour delay from its original start time, meaning we likely won’t see any games until at least 10:30am ET (3:30pm for us Brits).
The Big Cat is back!
Last year, five-time Masters winner Tiger Woods was forced to retire after the third round after limping around Augusta in visible agony.
12 months and other After surgery, Woods is back and aiming for a sixth victory.
If all goes well, I think I can get one more. Do I need to describe that more than that, or are we okay?
I still think I can [win]. I haven’t gotten to that point where I think I can’t.
Weather monitoring
The good news is that major golf championships are finally back after 263 days of waiting.
The bad news is that they will make us wait a little longer.
The weather in Georgia has delayed the start of play and the first round is not expected to begin before 9am ET (that’s 2pm for those of you across the pond), according to The Masters itself.
Here we go…
Is finally here. Happy Teachers Thursday!
