Fired NY1 weatherman who performed sex acts on live cam breaks his silence

A fired Spectrum NY1 meteorologist, who allegedly masturbated on camera to strangers, has broken his silence — six months after he was fired when his mother and boyfriend got his nudes in the mail.

Emmy nominee Erick Adame was fired in September 2022 after a user on an adult webcam site took screenshots of him performing explicitly and leaked them. Police are reportedly investigating whether he is a victim of revenge porn.

His last live cam session was on December 28, 2021, when someone posted a link publicly mentioning Adame. However, he has now shared how the sexual acts made him “feel better about myself” in his twenties.

He admitted that he would even reveal on camera that he was a NY1 employee – telling up to 700 users his full name and address.

Breaking his silence, Adame told the Death, Sex & Money podcast, “It makes me feel better about myself. For years dating back to my teens I had low self esteem and was ashamed of who I am for being gay.

“And showing off, and getting that kind of praise and being called sexy, I want to see more — hearing that from someone on the other end of the line made you feel so good.”

He said he thought about whether to show his face on camera while performing the sex acts, and finally he did.

And talking to men online not only made him feel “sexy” but also played on his exhibitionistic and humiliating desires.

He added, “It just wasn’t the same. It wasn’t much fun. I thought my face was pretty… when I’m looking for praise, this is one of my best features. Do you know how you have the devil on your shoulder and the angel on your shoulder?’

Adame revealed that his cam days started on Skype – where he would make video calls to people he knew from college. But as he got older, he performed for strangers and became “riskier” when he moved to New York in 2017.

Looking back at the leaked images, he admitted, “They’re graphic. Some are so humiliating now.”

After photos were sent to his workplace, he was eventually fired. The photos were also emailed to his mom and new boyfriend — and Adame admitted, “I’m so mad at that person, because I just don’t understand why.

“Why would you want to upset someone by sending those images to someone’s mother?”

The meteorologist admitted that he made mistakes, but in the process he learned a lesson – to be more careful. “It’s just a shame it was too late,” he said.

According to Death, Sex & Money, police are investigating whether Adame’s ordeal is classified as “revenge porn.” It is unclear if he is a victim of a crime, as in New Jersey revenge porn laws only apply if the content distributed is created with an expectation of privacy only. NYPD said they have no complaints about Adame.

In September, Adame wrote in a lengthy confessional: “Despite being a public figure and having been on television five days a week for more than a decade and a half in the country’s largest market in front of millions of people, I secretly appeared on a webcam website for adults.

“On this site, I played up my compulsive behavior, while at home, by performing on camera for other men,” he wrote.

“It was 100% consensus from both sides. I wasn’t paid for this and it was absurd of me to think I could keep this private. Still, my employer found out and I was suspended and fired.’

Adame was nominated for two Emmys over his nearly 15-year career, about five of which he spent as a NY1 meteorologist before being fired.
