A fire has devastated the Soho House hotel in Chicago, prompting a complete evacuation.
Plumes of smoke rose from the luxury hotel at 113 North Green Street in the Fulton Market neighborhood Wednesday morning.
The Chicago Fire Department said the source was a fire in an electrical vault and considered the situation a Level 2 hazardous materials response.
The crews were able to successfully extinguish the fire and continued the evacuation of the hotel.
The power company ComEd responded to the scene and power was out in the area. No injuries were reported.
Employees and guests of the members-only hotel took shelter on a Chicago Transit Authority bus, authorities said.
Soho House Chicago’s website is still accepting reservations for Wednesday. The cheapest room is $600 per night if guests register as a member when booking.
This is a developing story. Please check back for updates.
