Every week, FEMAIL asks two singles to report on their blind date.

This week, it was Emily and Kiaron’s turn to dine and wine.

Keep reading to find out what happened…

Emily, 48 years old

Current role

Coach helping women with emotional overeating.

Would you like to meet

It has to be fun and kind, with emotional intelligence.

Past dates?

I was engaged to my partner for eight years but we broke up six years ago. I was shocked and devastated. I also just got out of a six-month relationship.

Pre-date nerves?

I’m nervous to see what other people say about us after we appear in the paper, but I wasn’t nervous at all about the actual date!

First impressions?

I knew right away from Kiaron’s smile and manner that we were going to have a good time. He was quite a gentleman. Even when I went to the bathroom early, I came back and he gave me the best seat at the table and asked if he preferred to sit facing the view. It was a nice thing to do.

Easy to talk to?

I haven’t laughed so much in years. We chatted about our jobs, dogs, our travels (we both love Croatia and the Amalfi Coast), and we both enjoy murder mystery novels. Kiaron is an author and has written a murder mystery himself; I’m going to buy a copy.

The only possible thing we could clash on is politics: he is a conservative and I am a socialist. But we are of the same opinion in the sense that you can disagree on politics and still get along with someone: he lives and lets live.

Embarrassing moments?

Nothing that I thought was embarrassing.

Did sparks fly?

I never think romantic sparks fly on a first date because it’s too soon. But I laughed a lot and he was a gentleman and then he walked me to the station. We gave each other a kiss, just a kiss on each cheek, to say goodbye.

Would you like to meet again?

Yes, we hope to go walking the dog together in the next few weeks.

What do you think he thought of you?

He told me that he thought I was charming, beautiful and funny. We chatted for almost four hours and the time passed quickly, so I think that’s a good sign.

Would your family like it?

Yes absolutely. I have no idea why he is single, he is so nice and really listens…not all men do!

Emily’s Verdict: 8/10

Appreciated?

Definitely the laughter.

Regrets?

None at all.

Coffee or taxi?

Coffee.

Kiaron, 55 years old

Vital statistics

Single with no children.

Current role

Author.

Would you like to meet

Someone rich? No, that’s a joke. I would like someone who likes to laugh, who is happy, sociable and confident.

Past dates?

I was engaged to my partner for 16 years, but we split up just before Covid. It was amicable as we both realised we had become more like friends. I have since tried dating apps, but I hate meeting people that way.

Pre-date nerves?

You are welcome. I don’t get nervous about this kind of stuff.

First impressions?

It was quite funny when the waiters took me to the wrong table. When I finally met Emily, I thought she had class and intelligence. I extended my hand to her for a handshake, but she leaned forward and we double-kissed her cheeks, which was nice.

Easy to talk to?

From the moment we sat down and she made a very cheeky joke about my overflowing beer, I knew we were going to get along well. I think her work in helping women with their self-image is interesting and I admire the fact that she doesn’t mind at all about the online trolls who attack her for her direct opinions.

She’s originally from Essex and for some reason I kept doing terrible Michael Caine impressions, even though he’s not from Essex. But she seemed to find them amusing. She’s the kind of woman who would tell me if she didn’t; I liked that about her.

Embarrassing moments?

I threw a glass and it broke everywhere.

Did sparks fly?

Yes, it was so lovely. In terms of ripping each other’s clothes off at the table, that certainly didn’t happen at The Ivy, but who knows? I certainly felt a connection with her.

See her again?

Yes absolutely. I’ve already sent him a text suggesting a dog walk and lunch at the pub.

What do you think he thought of you?

I’m probably a bit of an idiot. I had a couple more glasses of wine than she did, so I don’t know how she feels about me. We shared a quick kiss goodbye at the end and exchanged numbers.

Would your family like it?

What’s not to like? She’s funny, genuine, and doesn’t take herself too seriously.

Kiaron’s Verdict: 10/10

Appreciated?

We had the same sense of humor.

Regrets?

None at all.
