Square Enix has started talking about the endgame activities Final Fantasy 16 players will be able to look forward to after completing the main story, including New Game + and challenges that are even tougher than anything I’ve encountered in the entirety of the story.
According to a report Game InformerOne of the biggest features of New Game+ is the addition of a new, harder difficulty level known as Final Fantasy Mode, besides allowing you to bring all your abilities and equipment from the first try like most New Game+ modes, this new difficulty setting will also change the placement of monsters and they will appear in Different places of the game to keep you alert all the time.
“The main design philosophy is that the first experience is about learning Clive, learning the controls, and then enjoying the story,” said Ryota Suzuki, Combat System Director for Final Fantasy 16. “The second experience we want to shift that focus to action because the story hasn’t changed.” For example, while players may encounter waves of enemies in story mode, enemies often don’t attack at once to allow players to deal with everything, and in more difficult game modes, we’ve removed this limitation so you’ll have multiple enemies attacking Clive At the same time”.
“What we’ve done with Final Fantasy is give the players controlling Clive the feeling that they’re in constant danger, that death is just around the corner, and that you’ll need to be fully focused to finish the game on this difficulty.”
Final Fantasy Mode will allow players to upgrade their weapons beyond what was possible in the first story experience, upgrade accessories for the first time, and compete in Final Chronolith Trials.
Final Fantasy 16 will be released on June 22 exclusively for PS5.
