Fikayo Tomori couldn’t suppress a wry smile after hearing an AC Milan fan direct an X chant at Gareth Southgate.
The centre-back was not selected in Southgate’s provisional 33-man England squad ahead of Euro 2024 despite his eye-catching form in Serie A.
The group will be reduced to 26 for the tournament, but Tomori, along with the likes of Marcus Rashford and Ben Chilwell, was a surprise omission.
Tomori, who made his international debut in 2019, last appeared for the Three Lions in November 2023 and appears to have fallen down Southgate’s pecking order.
While on tour in Australia with Milan, Tomori was caught on camera listening to his fans express their frustration and couldn’t help but laugh.

The centre-back couldn’t help but laugh after hearing an X-rated Gareth Southgate chant.
Making their feelings known, they chanted: “We love you Tomori, f*** Southgate.”
Tomori, 26, tried his best to remain professional while signing shirts, but was seen comically shaking his head and smiling as the chants grew louder.
The centre-back has only played five international matches for England to date.
Last year he admitted his frustration at the lack of international minutes.
“Most players will say that once you come here, you want to stay here and when you try it, you want to keep building on it,” Tomori said.
Tomori has only earned five international caps for the Three Lions and last appeared in November 2023.

“My career in England has been a bit stop-start.
“When I first got called up I made a few appearances off the bench and then after the COVID year I wasn’t playing as much so obviously I didn’t get called up.
‘Then I went to Milan and I was in some fields, outside of some fields.
“But this season started very well and I managed to play some games and attended all the camps.”
