Paul Pogba made an exhibition of real captain against Leicester while Manchester United passed alongside Claude Puel on Friday night.

Pogba scored from the spot after just three minutes before Luke Shaw doubled the lead with his first high-scoring goal. Jamie Vardy grabbed a consolation but United clung to the victory.

But how did the new boys fare when they first tried the action of the Premier League?

Sportsmail it evaluates the performance of all the new signings that are shown when the men of Mourinho put their disastrous preseason behind them to have a winning start.

Fred

He made a decent introduction to the Premier League. He was comfortable in possession and kept things clean and tidy in the middle of the park.

Jose Mourinho had to calm him down from the sideline at one point during the second half after Fred's fierce team came out and won him a reserve for clashes with James Maddison. It was substituted out of 13 minutes of time.

James Maddison

There were doubts that Maddison could take the step towards the Premier League, but he looked at home and connected well with his colleagues from Leicester.

I wasted some pieces but it was a bright spark in the middle of the field. He forced David de Gea to make a great save in the first half before being replaced by Jamie Vardy shortly after the hour of play.

Ricardo Pereira

He was quiet for most of the game with the main threat from Leicester coming down the other flank. He threatened Luke Shaw at times with his pace, but it did not have a real impact on the game.

He seemed uncomfortable playing in the top half of the field and will most likely replace Daniel Amartey on the right side for the next Leicester game.

Rachid Gheezal

Nicknamed the man to replace Riyad Mahrez, but there is no indication so far if he will be up to the task.

I only got 30 minutes here out of the bank and I fought to prevail in the game.
