An angry couple are on a mission to identify a brazen thief who stole expensive logs from their rural property while they were on holiday.

“Does anyone recognize this woman? She came into our front yard to take firewood while we were out,” the wife wrote on social media Friday.

“The camera caught it several times and the neighbours who have the number plate of her car saw it. Today we went to get firewood from relatives and they took it all.”

The woman took the wood from a property in Bona Vista, a rural town off Victoria Valley Road in southwest Victoria.

She was seen loading several large logs onto a trailer attached to her car in photos posted to social media.

Local residents were quick to share their thoughts on his brazen act.

“You can’t take whatever you want from someone else’s property, for God’s sake,” one wrote.

“What’s wrong with today’s society? It’s so selfish. Work hard and make your way in life instead of being a selfish thief. It makes me so angry,” said another.

“How cheeky, Jesus, there’s a lot of wood along the road,” commented a third.

“Wow, that’s so wrong!” shared a fourth.

Several people pointed out that the woman’s license plates could be seen in the photo.

“Do you just need to contact the police? You have the license plate,” one person said.

“Just report it to the police, stealing is taking something from someone else’s property. He will probably resell it,” advised a second officer.

One man said the couple’s neighbors should have stopped the woman.

“The neighbors should have called the police while she was there. This kind of shit has to stop. What happened to neighborhood watch?” he wrote.

Another person said it could have been a simple misunderstanding.

“She may have genuinely thought that anyone could grab him and that she was doing him a favor in the process,” they said.

“I had relatives come looking for him,” his wife responded to his comment.

Daily Mail Australia has contacted Victoria Police about the incident.
