Field hockey match erupts in gunfire as shooters send St. Louis University and La Salle players scrambling for cover

A field hockey game in Philadelphia erupted with gunfire, causing players, coaches and officials to seek cover.

Footage from the hectic scene shows players from St. Louis University and La Salle abandoning their equipment and running inside. A referee is seen sliding or crouching behind the goal before getting up and running towards an open garage.

An update was immediately posted to the St. Louis University Field Hockey X account explaining that no one was injured.

“Today’s game at La Salle has been suspended due to a shooting in the vicinity of the field,” the post said. “Everyone is safe.”

The game was apparently tied 0-0 when the shooting occurred. A school spokesperson declined to offer additional information when contacted by DailyMail.com.
