Orkun Kökcü cheers after a goal

Feyenoord did not make a mistake in the Rotterdam derby against Excelsior on Sunday afternoon. The team of trainer Arne Slot wins in their own Kuip with large numbers, 5-1.
Feyenoord knew it could take advantage of Ajax and PSV’s loss of points, but had a false start. Excelsior took the lead after four minutes through Kenneth Goudmijn. After that, however, Feyenoord quickly put things in order. With hits from Sebastian Szymanski and Orkun Kökcü, the home team led again after twenty minutes, 2-1.
In the second half Feyenoord remained the dominant party and it went further. Szymanski and Kökcü scored again, but the final chord was for Patrik Wålemark, who signed for the 5-1. Then goalkeeper Justin Bijlow showed himself with a very nice save.
Due to the big victory, Feyenoord is the leader of the Eredivisie and winter champion. The Rotterdammers have three points more than Ajax and PSV. Number four AZ is on four points. FC Twente also still has connections with the top clubs. The deficit is three points on Ajax and PSV.
