A fertility doctor who inseminated up to 100 women with his own sperm has been fined $ 10,000.
Dr. Norman Barwin, who ran Broadview Fertility Clinic in Ottawa, Canada, gave patients his own sperm instead of that of a donor or their partner, or swapped samples.
The misconduct, dating back to the 1970s, was discovered after one of the children became curious about her origins and was given a genetic test while a second celiac disease was developed, a genetic condition for which neither parent was a carrier.
The 80-year-old has been the biological father of at least 16 children.

He described his actions as & # 39; terrible & # 39; and & # 39; reprehensible & # 39; and said he betrayed & # 39; the trust of patients & # 39 ;.
& # 39; Your actions have deeply affected individuals and their families and caused irreparable damage that bridges generations, & they said in their decision.
Rebecca Dixon told the hearing that she & # 39; got back & # 39; and & # 39; infected & # 39; felt when she discovered at the age of 25 that Barwin was her biological father.
Barwin, who has since retired, operated Broadview Fertility Clinic in Ottawa. The regulator said his actions & # 39; horrible & # 39; and & # 39; reprehensible & # 39; goods
& # 39; At that time, my life changed forever & # 39 ;, she said in a victim bulletin.
& # 39; I felt dissociated with my own face for a while, as if the person looking behind me in the mirror was no longer entirely for me. & # 39;
Her father, who was struggling with major health problems, had to learn to accept that the daughter he had raised and loved was not in fact his biological child, she said.
& # 39; My mother & # 39 ;, she added, & # 39; had to work through that something had happened to her body without knowing her or giving her permission. & # 39;
In family portraits, her brown eyes and olive-colored skin stand out compared to her parents' pale skin.
After learning, he is not the biological father of Rebecca, her father Dan said that his world is upside down & # 39; Has been.
& # 39; Rebecca is our child, but she is not our child. She is, but she is not. & # 39;

& # 39; I felt so violated, I felt dirty, almost as if I had been raped & # 39 ;, she said.
In his opinion, the College also turned down the retired doctor, so that the medical authorities would be notified if he tried to practice in the future.
Barwin did not attend the hearing.
The disciplinary panel has heard evidence of 13 cases dating back to 1978 before a judgment was pronounced.

Barwin was suspended for two months in 2013 after inseminating four women with the wrong sperm.
He took up his license to practice in 2014 after another former patient had filed a similar complaint.
The secret was blown open when Kat Palmer, 25, received a DNA test through an ancestor website and discovered that she was related to a Barwin family member.
When she asked the doctor for a paternity test in 2015, he emailed her the results that confirmed that he was her biological father.
The doctor claimed at the time that the confusion was unintended, and must have happened when he used his own sperm to use a & # 39; sperm counter & # 39; to test.
Kat was overjoyed to have found a half-sister and said it was & # 39; what I always wanted & # 39 ;.
A third child of Barwin, James, discovered that the fertility doctor was his father after taking a DNA test and comparing his genetics with Kat & # 39; s online.
After communicating on Facebook, the two met in person.
Kat posted a photo of the two meeting on Instagram, with the caption: & # 39; Start my family day long weekend by meeting some of my growing family.
& # 39; In addition to being hung around with my fantastic brother and sister-in-law today, my heart is sure that my new niece & # 39; Goodbye Aunt Kat & # 39; says while I'm out of the car tonight. & # 39;
