Roosters star Joey Manu was reunited with his newborn daughter at Sydney Airport after he almost pulled out of the NRL season opener in Las Vegas so he could stay home with her.

Manu left late for the United States after being given permission to stay in Australia upon arrival last week.

The New Zealand star revealed how difficult it was for him to board his flight after meeting his little girl for the first time.

“I’m very happy and sad at the same time to leave them,” Manu told Nine News at the time.

‘I wanted to make sure my wife and baby were in good spirits and happy (with my departure). “I’m looking forward to getting there and getting back to business.”

Manu quickly bonded with the newborn and said: ‘She is lovely. She is cute. To be honest, she didn’t want to leave this morning. She was struggling to leave. It will all be worth it.

‘There were some days there where I didn’t think I’d actually go. Even after (the birth), I thought, ‘I’m not really sure.’

“But talking to ‘Robbo’ (Roosters coach Trent Robinson), and a few people in my family and my wife, it worked out well – here I am, on the plane, getting ready.”

If Manu has any questions about fatherhood, he can direct them to his teammates, and several other Roosters have recently become fathers.

The team flew back to Sydney on Tuesday morning after their 20-10 win on Sunday and many were greeted by their wives and babies.

Enforcer Victor Radley was seen leaving the terminal with his partner Taylah Cratchley and their new baby Vinnie Cash.

James Tedesco was also photographed with his wife Maria pushing a stroller with their first daughter, Rosie Mae, who was born in September last year.

It looks like Roosters lock Nat Butcher won’t have to wait long to join the Bondi dads club as he was pictured leaving the airport with his very pregnant wife Harmony Butcher.

Roosters prop Spencer Leniu was also pictured at the airport on Tuesday morning after he allegedly called Brisbane’s Ezra Mam a “monkey” during Sunday’s game.

Leniu was escorted out of the airport by staff and told waiting reporters that “I’m not allowed to comment on that at the moment” when asked about the scandal that took the shine of the double-header in Sin City.
