Price, the Alameda County prosecutor, has been under pressure over rising crime levels in the Bay Area city, and a recall effort she says is “funded by billionaires” and based on “hate and racism” is gaining momentum.

Price herself has received more than $1 million from three political action committees funded by left-wing billionaire George Soros, according to the Washington Times.

Save Alameda For Everyone (SAFE) obtained the 73,195 valid signatures needed to trigger a recall election against Price, according to the Registrar of Voters.

The city’s board of supervisors says they will discuss the recall on April 30 at a meeting, but those involved in the recall campaign are demanding it be scheduled within the next 125 days, according to California state law.

Price was elected in 2022 as the county’s first Black district attorney with 53 percent of the vote and a liberal wish list of policies that included reducing mass incarceration, lower sentences for people under 25, and police reform. .

Supporters of the recall have said she has gone too far in her indulgence of crime and is not making the county safe.

“Today marks a historic moment for our community,” said Brenda Grisham, SAFE organizer.

“The resounding support for this recall petition sends a clear message that the people of Alameda County demand accountability and ethical leadership from their elected officials.”

The recall campaign has raised more than $2 million and hired a consultant who successfully removed San Francisco District Attorney Chesa Boudin in 2022, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.

That has progressives still backing Price suggesting the effort is funded by carpetbaggers and real estate lobbyists.

The largest donation was $390,000 from financier and Oakland resident Phillip Dreyfuss.

Price herself has not yet commented on the recall efforts, DailyMail.com has contacted her office.

In the past, he has claimed that the campaign against him is being “funded by billionaires who have no interest in public safety,” according to the Chronicle.

“I plan to fight the hate and racism that has been brought to Alameda County,” Price said in March, following a panel with other county prosecutors at the University of California, Berkeley.

It comes after she was accused of regularly branding “the media and Asians” as her enemies in an explosive $1.5 million legal filing.

Patti Lee, who worked as Price’s spokeswoman for about six months last year until she fired her, said the district attorney “constantly and openly” made derogatory comments about Asian Americans.

Her legal complaint, a precursor to a lawsuit, says she was fired for discrimination against Asians and after complaining about dereliction of office duties.

She is seeking a $1.5 million settlement for emotional distress stemming from retaliation, discrimination, wrongful termination and nonpayment of wages.
