Welcome to The Group Chat with Lucy Manly, where Australia’s most trusted society insider shares the hottest gossip BEFORE it makes the news. Last week he was at Melbourne Park for the launch of the Australian Open…
It’s Pip’s world, we just live in it.
It was not the match between Novak Djokovic and Nishesh Basavareddy That set tongues wagging at the Australian Open on Monday night.
Instead, it was the motley group of famous faces sitting at “the frown” – all guests of Ralph Lauren – who ended up attracting attention.
As the match began, the group made a tennis faux pas by entering after the first serve had bounced, descending the stairs to their well-placed seats as if it were their own court.
For those unfamiliar, tennis etiquette prioritizes minimal disruption to players and other spectators, so it is generally considered bad form to enter after the game has started.
Pip Edwards was seen chatting to Australian expat legal eagle Jennifer Robinson as ‘Team Ralph Lauren’ rocked the Open.

Pip (centre) and Robinson (right) later posed for a fierce pitchside photograph with actress Krew Boylan (left) of TV movie fame Schapelle Corby.
Most tournaments have ushers who enforce a policy of allowing entry only during breaks in play, such as between games or during changeovers.
But those unspoken rules didn’t apply to the tracksuit queen. Pip Edwards, model Rebecca Harding and actress Krew Boylanfrom the famous television movie Schapelle Corby, who were allowed to enter independently.
A surprise addition to the Ralph Lauren ensemble was the expat Australian legal eagle. Jennifer Robinsonwhom the London press likes to call “the go-to A-list lawyer”.
She has led high-profile cases, including those of Amber Heard and Julian Assange, and was even invited to George and Amal Clooney’s wedding in 2014.
No wonder Pip was more interested in biting her ear than watching the game. Look out, Jackie O. Pip might have a new best friend.
What is behind the disappearance of the Judds?
From their attendance at the Australian Open each year, you might think that the Melbourne power couple Chris and Bec Judd They were die-hard tennis fans.
Whether sitting in the courtside seats or sipping champagne at the luxurious Piper-Heidsieck Champagne Bar, the Judds are always a Melbourne Park staple.

Model Rebecca Harding was another high-profile Ralph Lauren guest at this week’s Open.

Actress Krew Boylan posed on the Ralph Lauren marquee before sitting next to Pip on the court.
And tennis is a lucrative sport to pursue for the power couple, with the best seats provided courtesy of the bubbly brand: no doubt in exchange for some social media juice from the WAG ‘queen bee’, who did so by wearing a pop of red for Piper.
Bec certainly hyped herself up Sunday night as being on the court (and she was, throughout the women’s game), only for the pair to slip away early in the second men’s game during the night session.
Two days later, Bec shared a “get ready with me” video on social media thanking her brand partners for the memorable experience.
“Thank you for doing my hair Mermade Hair and thank you Piper-Heidsieck for the amazing experience,” she gushed.
“The Aus Open is without a doubt the highlight of the year.”
Perhaps their Irish goodbye was to avoid another embarrassing encounter with someone like former Mongol biker boss turned influencer Toby Mitchell, who they found themselves sitting next to last year.

Last year, Bikie’s former boss Toby Mitchell shared this photo of himself alongside the Judds, but Bec refused to look at the camera.
Mitchell shared a photo with her more than 340,000 Instagram followers and while Chris complied and looked at the camera, Bec decided against it and looked at her phone.
It’s hard to be taken seriously when you complain about crime in Brighton if you’re portrayed alongside the likes of Mitchell, isn’t it, Bec?
And finally…guess who, don’t sue
Which well-known socialite drank too many champagnes between tennis sets last week while assuming the role of proud stage mother?
The group chat hears that the Melbourne expert was showing photos of her teenage daughter (of legal age) in lingerie to other diners at a posh bistro.
According to a passerby, she asked if any of the men wanted to ask her out, while taking long, sensual drags from his berry-flavored vaporizer.
