The Chicago man who beat his 17-year-old daughter to death in May 2022 will spend the next 55 years in prison.
Mohammed Almaru, 42, was convicted of first-degree murder for killing his daughter, Mia Maro, in August 2022, and later confessed in a letter to his son that “I lost my mind, lost control and hit the shit.” *It doesn’t come out of her.’

On Monday he was sentenced to 55 years for the murder.

His attorneys attempted to reduce his sentence and filed a motion to request an immediate new trial. But the judge denied it and doubled down, saying Almaru must serve 100 percent of his sentence. ABC 7Chicago reported.
Although he will receive credit for the more than two years he has already spent behind bars, he will be 97 years old when he is eligible for release.
Mia confided in family and friends days before the murder that she was afraid of her father.
She had texted a family member that she was in an accident and that she was afraid her father was going to “hit her,” and even feared that he would “kill her.” Fox 32 Chicago reported.
Her Aunt Randa had sent her niece several text messages, aware that she had not attended the prom. All their attempts to register went unanswered. He became worried and headed home two days after the prom.

Soon other family members began to arrive at the home, distraught and screaming at the scene.

“I slept with her, I was unconscious (sic) and I woke up with her body cold,” he told his son.
Mia was a senior at Victor J. Andrew High School and planned to attend college with the goal of becoming a dental hygienist.
