A father who tortured his one-year-old son before killing him pleaded guilty to manslaughter.

The resident of Brisbane, Shane Purssell Akehurst, 35, repeatedly threw the little Corby Mitchell against a wooden bed in their Kin Kin house in an attempt to make the younger one cry, the police claimed.

The toddler began to convuls after the attack before his mother Kylie Woodford called the emergency services.

Corby died in the Lady Cilento Children & # 39; s Hospital in Brisbane as a result of the violent attack in March 2015.

Akehurst also pleaded guilty to a torture prize as a result of a series of attacks on the toddler from November last year.

He was initially accused of severe physical injury and five counts of abuse, whereby the charge was upgraded to murder and torture.

On Monday, the prosecutor dropped the assassination attempt because of the lesser offense of manslaughter.

Akehurst was taken into pre-trial detention to his conviction in the High Court of Brisbane on a date yet to be determined.
