The violent incident began when an unidentified woman, 25, was traveling with her three children and stopped outside the pizzeria on September 29 at 9.50 pm on Dauphin Street in Philadelphia.

The woman was visiting her friend, 25, who worked in the pizzeria and let her Hyundai sedan walk out.

A 54-year-old man then got into the car and left with three 7-month-old children, one and five, in the vehicle.

He was able to drive about half a block before being caught in traffic, and the couple caught up with him and forced him to get out of the vehicle, NBC reported.

The car thief then fled on foot, but the father caught up with him again and a physical confrontation followed. It is clear that the man is the father of two of the children.

Neither the victim nor the parents involved in the incident have been identified as an investigation into the circumstances remains.

Other men participated in the fight and eventually the suspect was beaten and kicked until he was unconscious.

It was generally reported that the father participated in the hitting, but was himself attacked by the carjacker.
