Matthew Perry’s former home in Pacific Palisades, where he tragically died in 2023, was saved by his former neighbors amid the Los Angeles wildfires.
The property’s new owner, Anita Verma-Lallian, who purchased the property in an off-market deal in October 2024, confirmed that the late Friends star’s residence was still standing due to the heroic actions of her community.
“We want to express our deepest gratitude to the brave firefighters, our incredible neighbors, and the entire Palisades community for their help, strength, and support during this heartbreaking time,” Verma-Lallian wrote in an Instagram post on Friday.
Verma-Lallian also confirmed to People that her real estate agent, Brooke Elliott Laurinkus, “helped monitor the house and protect it from any fires amid the natural disaster.”
In her caption, she thanked Laurinkus for “keeping us informed about everything going on” and also for “helping anyone who needs a temporary home during this time.”
“Our thoughts are with all those affected by this tragedy and we hope to come together to heal, protect and rebuild what has been lost,” he concluded. “The Palisades will always hold a special place in our hearts.”

Verma-Lallian, who works as a film producer and real estate developer, bought Perry’s former home a year after his sudden death.
The four-bedroom, five-bathroom abode sold for a whopping $8.55 million just three months ago.

The Palisades Fire, one of three unprecedented wildfires terrorizing Southern California, has burned more than 15,000 acres of land and destroyed approximately 1,000 structures. Currently, tens of thousands of Los Angeles residents are under evacuation orders.
Fortunately, it did not burn, despite Cal Fire Live Map showing his neighborhood within the “incident perimeter” earlier this week.
At the time, Verma-Lallian confirmed via Instagram Story that she and her family are “safe,” but did not provide any information about the status of the property.
‘Thank you to everyone who came. Our family is safe and we are waiting for updates. Praying for everyone affected by the wildfires,” the film producer wrote.
He also reposted horrific images from BBC News of Pacific Palisades homes engulfed in flames as extreme winds battered the devastated area.

Verma-Lallian, who resides in Scottsdale, Arizona, purchased Perry’s 3,500-square-foot mansion in an off-market deal in October 2024.

The sale of the home came almost exactly a year after the Friends star was found dead in the residence’s hot tub on October 28, 2023 at age 54.
Perry originally purchased the home, which sits on a hillside overlooking the ocean, in 2020 for $6 million. Before her death, Perry completely renovated the property, swapping out a light oak floor for darker wood and boho furniture for much brighter colors.
He frequently shared photos of his house, pool and garden, revealing that he was a big fan of Batman, as the caped crusader’s artwork featured prominently in his home.
In fact, his last Instagram post was a photo of him enjoying the hot tub he died in with the city lights twinkling behind him.
His death was ruled accidental due to the acute effects of ketamine. Buprenorphine, which is often used to treat opioid addiction, was also found in his system.

The couple bought the five-bedroom home in 2019, but images show the property now engulfed in flames.
Similarly, the eco-friendly residence of actress Anna Faris, valued at $5 million, was completely decimated by the fire.

Lake, 56, bought the property in 2014. She and her husband Ross Sussman were married there, in their backyard, just three years ago.
“I can’t believe I’m writing these words (…) Ross and I lost our dream home,” Lake wrote on Instagram.
Oscar-nominated actor James Woods shared images of a house two blocks from his property that was completely burned down.
Reality stars Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag confirmed their home was also lost.
Pratt, 41, was captured in photographs watching the fire move rapidly toward his home.
Fortunately, the couple and their two children were able to evacuate safely later that day before the flames got too close.
