It was once the destination to see celebrities dressed in their Sunday best while watching world-class tennis.
But standards have since dropped and celebrities fill the VIP seats at the All England Lawn, Tennis and Croquet Club in more Saturday night-appropriate attire.
While competitors at Wimbledon are required to wear white, there are few guidelines that attendees must adhere to; it’s an unspoken rule that guests must arrive in smart attire.
In 2023, celebrities filled the stands dressed in elegant suits, including Daniel Craig, Tom Hiddleston and Hugh Jackman.
This year it was a different story, with Romeo Beckham arriving in a white T-shirt and suede jacket and singer Grace Jones sporting a navy suit, while the focal point of snooker player Ronnie O’Sullivan’s outfit was a loose, crumpled shirt.

Attendees are not required to wear a suit when they arrive at SW19, but it has become a common choice for many event attendees.
Last year, stars packed the VIP seats at the All England Lawn, Tennis and Croquet Club to watch Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz triumph over Serbia’s Novak Djokovic in the men’s final.
Daniel Craig and Rachel Weisz were seen taking their seats as rain began to fall on Centre Court, while fellow actor Brad Pitt arrived with director Guy Ritchie.
Brad, who was in the UK to film his movie Apex, where scenes were shot at Silverstone last weekend, beamed as he sat next to Guy, who he worked with on the hit 2000 film Snatch. They were both wearing shirts, with the film’s producer opting to add a tie.
Meanwhile, Daniel and Rachel made a rare outing together to enjoy the final, with the actress looking chic in a cream blazer while her Bond star husband looked dapper in a suit and tie.
Meanwhile, Tom Hiddleston looked dapper in a sky blue and white striped shirt which he teamed with a navy blazer and a matching pair of tailored trousers. He was joined by his partner Zawe Ashton who looked the epitome of chic in a blue floral midi dress with a sweetheart neckline.
Fast forward to 2024 and celebrities have adopted a different aesthetic when it comes to their clothing.
Victoria and David Beckham’s middle son opted for a casual white T-shirt at the prestigious event.
Australian tennis player Nick Kyrgios (pictured) wore a Chicago Bulls jersey at the tennis event.

The 21-year-old footballer was grinning from ear to ear as he watched the match while making the most of the sporting event at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club in south-west London.
He is known for his love of casual attire and streetwear, but as Romeo sat in the stands alongside his friends dressed in blue T-shirts, he stood out in his understated white shirt.

Meanwhile, Grace Jones, 76, was photographed in the stands looking typically chic, but far from smart casual.
The Jamaican-American singer-songwriter and model took to the stands in a navy blue suit and sported two pairs of sunglasses: aviator sunglasses over her eyes and sneakers atop her Biggles hat.
Snooker player Ronnie O’Sullivan followed suit and opted for a casual look, wearing an oversized navy shirt.

It seems the general public is just as confused about the Wimbledon dress code as celebrities are.
Acknowledging that Wimbledon launched its first ever range of “smart casual” clothing for spectators last year, the championship said many visitors are unsure of what to wear to the event.
Now, the All England Lawn Tennis Club has launched a new “semi-formal” range that will allow all guests to wear something “from Wimbledon to Wimbledon” and “stylish options for wearing, watching and playing tennis”.
The range, designed in SW19, includes cotton chinos and striped dresses, with prices starting at £40 and going up to £250.
David Hewitt, retail and merchandise director at Wimbledon, said: ‘We are continually looking to push the boundaries of this collection, and going beyond sportswear with the launch of our semi-formal capsule is exciting new territory for us.
‘The team have designed some really eye-catching pieces, inviting our guests to bring something from Wimbledon to Wimbledon for the first time. For me, that’s something really special.’
Designed just steps away from Centre Court, the club said the collection “continues to grow in confidence and size”, showcasing Wimbledon’s “relevance both on and off the court”.
Organizers said they hoped the pieces would “offer stylish options for wearing, looking and playing tennis.”
According to the club, in the three weeks leading up to the tournament, there is a 404 per cent increase in online searches for “What to wear to Wimbledon” and “Wimbledon dress code”.
The club hopes to capitalize on the ‘Tenniscore’ trend that continues to dominate both on and off the court.
