Fantasy Football Waiver Wire: Early pickups for Week 14

It’s never too early to think about your next matchup and have the opportunity to strengthen your fantasy football lineups. Here are some options to consider for Week 14: Another apocalypse, when the Ravens, Broncos, Texans, Colts, Patriots and Commanders will say goodbye.

We already talked about Nick Westbrook-Ikhine in last week’s news column, so we’ll keep it brief here.

What will it take to get NWI featured in more fantasy football leagues?

You’d think a touchdown machine would be added the moment his streak became apparent, but it seems fantasy managers still don’t believe in Will Levis and the Titans’ passing game. However, NWI is trading targets and receptions for big plays and touchdowns, adding two more scores in Week 13 – the seventh and eighth in its last eight games.

Touchdowns are hard to predict, but so far, Westbrook-Ikhine looks like the closest thing to a lock in the scoring department of any widely available player.

Trevor Lawrence returned to the field in Week 13 only to leave again, this time with a head injury after a dirty hit that led to a fight. Mac Jones would take over and Parker Washington would be the biggest beneficiary.

Washington had by far its best game of the season, scoring and adding a 2-point conversion on a whopping 12 goals. Washington and Brian Thomas Jr. looked like the top two target earners for the Jaguars that day, and that could be the case going forward. The Jags will next face the Titans, whose normally solid defense has just been destroyed by Terry McLaurin and the Commanders. Add Washington if you desperately need WR help in Week 14.

Full disclosure: Sincere McCormick was returned to the practice squad after being elevated to the squad for the Raiders’ Friday afternoon clash against the Chiefs. Vegas was already missing Alexander Mattison and Zamir White, but instead of letting Ameer Abdullah carry the load, McCormick actually led the backfield with 12 rushing attempts.

Abdullah led the backfield in snaps, so he could very well remain the “leading backfield” in Las Vegas while Mattison and White are out. But it’s not like any of these running backs have impressed to the point where one would expect their roles to be completely safe. You could get worse for a bench in deeper leagues before the fantasy playoffs than a young, intriguing running back.
