- The color of the UK Fanta is much lighter and much closer to yellow
- Fanta US is darker orange – even the logos and bottle shapes are different
- The viral debate started on Twitter and is also taking place on Reddit
A battle between two great nations has been sparked as the British and Americans clash over a vital question – which is the nation’s best Fanta?
Social media users on either side of the Atlantic have clashed on Twitter and Reddit over the soft drink, which looks very different in the US compared to the UK.
While the Fanta known and loved in the UK (and Europe) is a lighter orange color, the US version is a much deeper shade, resembling the color of Italian Aperol liqueur.
And after the No Context Brits Twitter account shared an image of the two products side-by-side, asking which was better, Fanta lovers from every nation rushed to defend their favorite soft drink.
The tweet, which was first posted yesterday, already has more than 1.6 million views and nearly 12,000 likes, with many people voicing their opinions.
The @NoContextBrits Twitter account shared an image of the two side-by-side, with the caption “UK vs US Fanta”
One person wrote: ‘UK all way’ while another said: ‘99% of junk food is just better in the US.
A number of people accustomed to the UK version of Fanta are concerned about the “very orange” drink from the USA.
A shocked person tweeted, “First time I saw Fanta in America I really couldn’t believe the color!”
Another retweeted it and wrote, “Wtf are Americans putting in their Fanta to make it look like this.”
Others said “Fanta vs liquid heart failure” and “US Fanta will really make you bounce off the fucking walls”. Never again.’

The responses are also full of conflicting opinions, with one person writing “This color is so unnatural” and another adding “Juice vs. jet fuel”.
Other Twitter users, who weren’t impressed with the US version of Fanta, said the color of the product was “unnatural” and compared it to “jet fuel”.
An American chimed in: “I don’t want Brit Fanta. Nothing funnier than how insecure Brits get over the most insignificant things.
This debate has also taken place on Reddit, with the top answer: “Fanta seems to vary a lot around the world”. My standard Fanta is different from both.
Someone else joked: “100% natural flavors are code – this product has never seen orange or fruit in its entire life.”
However, another person replied to add context: “Natural orange flavors are usually extracted from orange oil, which is usually made from the peel/skin of oranges.
“So there’s almost certainly an element of real orange in there.” It has just been extracted, concentrated, separated, etc. What American Fanta lacks is the juice of the fruit.
Mocking the packaging of UK Fanta, one Twitter user wrote: “The UK version is wearing a belt and hasn’t seen the sun in a while.” Typical.’
Another added: ‘Everything in the UK is boring!’
However, UK Fanta fans fired back, saying the US version might cause someone to “catch a ratiation case”.
