Eagle-eyed viewers think they’ve finally figured out the symbolism behind Anthony Ammirati’s tattoo after he went viral for his hilarious failed pole vault attempt.
The Frenchman was eliminated from the pole vault semi-finals on Saturday after his knee – and protruding penis – appeared to catch on the 5.70-metre bar.
His unfortunate moment went viral on social media and after finishing 12th in his semi-final with a best mark of 5.60m, he called it a “big disappointment”.
Now fans have focused on the serpentine snake tattoo that circles around her right arm and they think it tells us everything we need to know.
“Anthony Ammirati will never have to explain his forearm tattoo again. Message received and understood,” wrote one fan on X, formerly Twitter.

Unfortunately, Ammirati caught his phallus in the bar while finishing 12th on Saturday.

“Never forget: this is the moment the tattoo made sense,” another tweet read.
Ammirati has had the tattoo for at least a couple of years, with an Instagram post in April 2022 flaunting the tattooed addition.
He is not the first Olympian to lose his underworld equipment on the bar: the same fate befell Japanese pole vaulter Hiroki Ogita during the qualifying rounds at Rio 2016.
Ammirati’s compatriots Robin Emig and Thibault Collet did not qualify for the final, but did not have the same problem. Monday’s final was won by Sweden’s Armand Duplantis.
“It’s a big disappointment,” Ammirati told the French Athletics Federation. “I’m a little bit disheartened because I didn’t miss anything on the third attempt at 5.70m. What I missed was a bit of jumping in training to fine-tune the settings. Just a technical session.”
He added: ‘Physically I was 100 percent, but I was lacking a bit in pole vaulting.
‘The conditions were good. It’s the first time I’ve started a competition without stress.
“As I was a complete outsider, my only goal was to interact with the public. I almost achieved that.”

Ammirati’s notable gaffe quickly went viral on social media, with fans laughing out loud after her private parts cost her a spot on the podium.
“Anthony Ammirati failed the exam and commenters are already having a hard time recognizing what happened. Help, I’m dying!” posted one user on X.
“Bad luck, but also good flexibility,” noted another.
“The best way to lose… the ego is still there,” someone else said.
