The famous conservationist, 20, was rumoured to be bringing his mother Terri Irwin to the exclusive event, and shocked fans when he turned up with Julia instead.
Viewers quickly took to social media to discuss Robert’s choice of date, while joking that they were surprised his “helicopter mom” Terri let him attend without her.
“So she ditched helicopter motherhood for TV motherhood,” one fan joked while a second person added: “Shocked mom let Robert out alone.”
“That surprises me. He usually takes his mother everywhere, even to the jungle,” added a third person.
“I bet mom wasn’t happy,” another user wrote.
The Logies’ conversation before the big day was Robert’s likely quote for the event.
But on Sunday, the Gold Logie nominee did not appear with his mother Terri on his arm as expected.

Wildlife warrior Robert looked dapper in a dark tuxedo for his red carpet performance and Julia looked stunning in a red gown as she strutted into the venue.
Irwin was the “hot favourite” to win the Gold Logie at the 64th annual TV Week Logie Awards on Sunday night, an award later taken by Channel Seven presenter Larry Emdur.
In June, sources told Daily Mail Australia that the famous conservationist would be joined by his mother and Irwin family matriarch Terri, despite recent backlash from fans who think the pair are “joined at the hip.”

“It’s a strange dynamic for a 20-year-old to be so attached to his mother and many think it’s time for Robert to come out from under her wing,” the source added.
The question of who Robert would choose to be on his arm at the Logies this year was widely speculated upon among industry insiders, given that most attendees are not allowed to bring guests with them.
