The Manchester United PR advisor passed by Pochettino and they did not speak
And some supporters thought there might be more going on if both Ashton and Pochettino were present for the Championship game, which ended 1-1.
Ashton was appointed as a consultant for United by sub-executive board executive chairman Ed Woodward.
The two men in Griffin Park did not exchange words when they came forward for the second half and sat down in the stands separately.
But there were many United fans who refused to see their joint presence as a coincidence.
One wrote: ‘Mauricio Pochettino spotted with Neil Ashton in Brentford vs Leeds. For those unfamiliar with Neil Ashton, he was recently hired by Ed Woodward on a PR basis. Very interesting!’
Pochettino posed for photos with fans on their way to take place in the second half
Another added: “Coincidence?” Possible. More than the eye can see? Also possible. Time will tell.’
And a third answered, “Neil Ashton is Woodward’s PR manager, so you know why he was seen at Pochettino.”
United has again confirmed that Solskjaer is the man to continue a long-term project at the club, but the pressure on the Norwegian is growing.
They are in eighth place in the Premier League and in fourth place in Chelsea with six points.
Pochettino remains untied but revealed his burning desire to redo in the Premier League after being fired by Spurs last November.
He said to Sky: “To be honest, I would really like to work in the Premier League. It will be difficult, I know, and for now it is a moment to wait and we will see what happens,
‘It is a moment of recovery, thinking a bit about yourself and being ready, because in football something can always happen and you have to be ready for it.
‘I am ready and waiting for a new challenge. I have the faith and confidence that the next challenge will be fantastic. “
