- Rose Namajunas defeated Tracy Cortez in Denver on Sunday
- Fans wondered why Cortez was wearing the accessory.
Fight fans were stunned by the incredible moment former two-time strawweight champion Rose Namajunas punched her opponent Tracy Cortez with a fake eyelash.
Namajunas with notches earned his second consecutive win at 125 pounds on Sunday (AEST) in the main event at UFC Denvershowing all the skills that made her a champion.
It was Cortez’s first loss inside the Octagon, and a dramatic moment from the fight has gone viral.
Early in the fight, Cortez was rocked by a left hook from ‘Thug Rose’, followed by a right hand that grazed her face and sent her false eyelash flying across the ring.
Unsurprisingly, MMA fans were quick to notice the detail and took to social media to point it out.
“Octagon shaped false eyelashes? I wore them to my son’s wedding but…” posted one fan.
‘Haha! Why is she wearing fake eyelashes during a fight?’ another posted.
“I can’t take this seriously anymore, the rest of the fight is about trying to take each other down. Nothing else matters,” joked a third.

Things didn’t get much better for Cortez from there, with Namajunas controlling the fight for the next 25 minutes and winning by decision.
It’s been a tough week for Cortez, who was forced to take drastic measures to make weight after failing on his first attempt.
The 30-year-old did not hesitate to cut off her long hair to reach the 126-pound limit on Friday, after having lost half a pound of weight.
“I won’t hesitate,” Cortez told Sportsnet afterward. “I’m going to do whatever it takes.”
It worked, as she officially weighed in at exactly 126 pounds. Cortez then posed for the cameras, her hair tied back in her hand.

Speaking to the media after the fight, Namajunas spoke about a possible flyweight title shot.
“I had this vision: I want to fight in Lithuania one day,” Namajunas said, referring to the country where her parents were born.
‘Bring the UFC to Lithuania and I would love to face Manon (Fiorot) or anyone for the belt, whatever.
“That’s my dream come true, but whatever the UFC has in mind, that’s fine by me, too.”
