Fans have joked that Newcastle assistant Jason Tindall could follow Kevin Nolan’s lead with his touchline courtesy.

Nolan gestured for Jurgen Klopp to shake Moyes’ hand first after Liverpool’s 2-2 draw with West Ham on Saturday in a show of deference.

It’s typical for coaches to shake hands first after a game, but Tindall, Eddie Howe’s assistant at Newcastle, often doesn’t get the memo.

He went viral last season for a clip of him breaking tradition and jumping up to shake hands before Howe could do so.

On one occasion, Wolves boss Gary O’Neil even snubbed him to follow standard procedure.

After Nolan showed Klopp in the direction of Moyes, fans claimed Tindall would do well to take notes.

“Newcastle assistant wouldn’t be like Howe shaking my hand before me,” wrote one user on X, formerly Twitter.

‘NUFC assistant coach needs to learn!’ said another.

“That Tindall would have gone straight to take a selfie with his autograph book in hand,” one commented.

Another gave Tindall a new name and wrote: “Jason Tiddle would have been honest.”

“Enough to have Jason Tindall spinning around in his sun lounger,” one joked.

Nolan was praised for his gentlemanly conduct: “Well played, Kev.” It is traditional for managers to shake hands first.

To be fair to Tindall, his status as Newcastle assistant is apparently higher than the status enjoyed by other fellow managers.

Howe has encouraged Tindall to have a strong touchline presence and that would explain his behaviour.

Howe has revealed that this is something he wants: “We are both very active on the sidelines and I have encouraged Jason to be like that.”

“We were very much a partnership when we started in management; we tried to do everything we could to help the players.”

He will often be alongside Howe in the technical area, forming an inseparable double act.

In March, he appeared on Sky Sports’ Guess the Footballer show alongside Howe. Klopp also participated in the match, but did so alone.

Last season, Howe even joked that Tindall likes to be the center of attention.

He admitted Tindall has an “eye for the camera” after a viral X account said he is “desperate for the spotlight.”
