Parish fans took to social media to express their devastation over the news that AMC+ canceled the crime drama after just one season.
On Thursday, the streaming service confirmed the news that the series, starring Giancarlo Esposito, Zackary Momoh and Paula Malcomson, had been canceled in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter.
“We are so proud of Parish and grateful for the creative talent involved and the performances they were able to bring to the screen, starting with the extraordinary Giancarlo Esposito, Skeet Ulrich and the entire cast,” AMC said. “Unfortunately we can’t continue with a second season, but Season 1 will still be available on AMC+ for fans who want to relive this exciting series and those who haven’t discovered it yet.”
Following the announcement, the show’s viewers reacted with sadness, calling the cancellation “a shame.”

According to the synopsis, his “son is violently murdered and his business collapses, an encounter with an old friend from his days as a helmsman resurrects old habits, sending Gray on a high-risk collision course with a violent criminal syndicate.”
The show, created by Danny Brocklehurst and Jim Poyser, released six episodes.

During the first season, Brocklehurst served as co-creator and executive producer.
Meanwhile, Eduardo Javier Canto and Ryan Maldonado were the showrunners and executive producers.
Prior to Parish, Esposito starred in the critically acclaimed series Breaking Bad as Gus Fring for five seasons and 62 episodes.
