Jessica and Lisa Origliasso of The Veronicas have opened up about why they decided to film the music video for their latest song Here to Dance on a shoestring budget.

Appearing on The Project on Wednesday, the twins, 39, excitedly confirmed that they had filmed the video at home on an iPhone.

‘We just thought it would be a fun idea, in the spirit of the song. It’s like the trajectory of how the industry has changed over the 20 years of our career,” Lisa began.

Unlike their big-budget videos from the early 2000s, this clip sees the sisters dancing seductively back and forth in a room while lip-syncing.

‘Our first music video cost a couple hundred thousand dollars. Nowadays you can literally create one on your phone in one go, it’s more instantaneous and much cheaper.’

The couple’s move toward low-budget filming is part of a growing industry trend of bucking the expensive movie-style clips of the ’90s for more personal and intimate clips in hopes of giving off a more relatable feel.

Some other famous artists who shoot music videos on mobile phones include Selena Gomez and Lady Gaga.

However, fans were not impressed, as many took to social media to express their sadness at the lack of effort the sisters put into creating their new video.

‘Heartbreaking for music video directors and their teams. “Everyone is desperately trying to grow and evolve from music videos,” one wrote.

‘Please tell me this is a joke, is this the official video? WTF,” another raged.

In December, the pop star siblings took to social media to address a really strange rumor about their father’s background.

The twins shared a video on TikTok to shut down the rumor that their father, Joseph, founded a popular Australian women’s fashion brand.

‘They want to know if we are the heirs of Supré. “Actually, we come from a long line of cane farmers,” they began.

“In fact, I love that you guys think we’re the heirs to Supré and I think we should keep that rumor going.”

They then said that they achieved their phenomenal success as pop stars thanks to their hard work and perseverance.
