AFL fans have been thrown into crisis on social media amid claims the Brownlow Medal winner was accidentally leaked in a now-deleted post.

A screenshot of the AFL Store website shared on Twitter before the Code Night of Nights began on Monday night shows an image of some striking Collingwood Magpies memorabilia.

The item is tagged as ‘Nick Daicos 2024 Brownlow Medallist Signed Jersey’.

Daicos is one of the favourites to take home this year’s Brownlow Medal, awarded to the AFL’s fairest and best player during the home and away season.

It has since been removed from the internet, but was first spotted by attentive fans and quickly went viral.

“I took a screenshot before it was deleted,” one wrote.

Fans were outraged that the 2024 winner may have been accidentally revealed several hours earlier than planned.

“If it is true and the AFL made a mistake in revealing the winner before the recount, the AFL can drop the Armaguard charade and simply say they know the result and verified the votes before the night,” one fumed.

Another pundit added: “It’s interesting that Daicos have taken a stance of favouritism towards Betfair for the Brownlow Medal after this tweet was circulated. Is this a mistake?”

Earlier in the day, Daicos and Carlton Blues superstar Patrick Cripps was tied for first in AFL.com.au’s Brownlow Predictor.

Cripps ($2.40) took home the award in 2022 and has had an outstanding season for the Blues and is tied with Daicos with 33 points in the system.

Cripps was second in the medal table after the first seven rounds on 13 points, one behind Sydney Swans star Isaac Heeney, who is ineligible to take the award.

Also in contention to win his third Brownlow is Brisbane Lions star Lachie Neale.
