Football fans have accused young West Coast player Harley Reid of vaping as he watched his girlfriend Yasmin Duursma make her AFLW debut for Carlton on Wednesday night.

Just a couple of days after winning Goal of the Year in his first Brownlow Medal, the top draft pick was spotted in the crowd supporting his teammate on Wednesday night at Ikon Park in Melbourne.

Sitting with Duursma’s family throughout the game, the 19-year-old superstar appeared quite nervous at times and was seen putting what some thought was a vape pen in his mouth.

Several social media users concluded that he was participating in an extremely unhealthy act.

“Why is Harley Reid smoking a vape at the @WestCoastEagles aflw game? What is going on here?” posted one X user.

“What flavor was it?” wrote a second commenter, referring to a popular vape brand.

“I just texted the antisocial behaviour hotline to report Harley Reid for vaping,” said another.

Other comments included: “Your boy is vaping?!?! Disagreeable,” “Was that a vape?” and “Wow star boy Harley Reid vaping!”

However, Reid currently has a splint on one of the fingers on his left hand, which gave the appearance that he was holding a vape pen when he put his fingers in his mouth.

The soccer star had good reason to be worried about his girlfriend’s team as North Melbourne recorded their biggest ever AFLW win with a 69-point victory.

The Kangaroos scored the first nine goals of Wednesday night’s game en route to an easy 12.7 (79) to 1.4 (10) victory.

It surpassed North Melbourne’s previous biggest win – a 66-point triumph over Sydney in Round 6 in 2022.

The result lifted North Melbourne, with four wins and one draw from five games, above Adelaide (4-0) into first place in the standings.

Duursma, sister of Essendon player Xavier Duursma and North Melbourne star Zane, said she was excited to make her debut for the club.

“I’ve had a lot of setbacks during pre-season so it’s exciting to be playing this week and making my debut for Carlton,” he told Channel 7.

Rumours about Reid’s relationship with the Carlton AFLW star began circulating in March when the pair were spotted sharing a kiss.

The couple went public with their romance over Easter and Duursma uploaded a racy TikTok of the new couple.

Last week, Duursma, who has been friends with Reid since childhood, spoke out about the relationship.

“We met when he was 12 and I was 13 and he and my brother have been friends ever since, as have Harley and I,” she told News Corp.

‘So when I got home from Adelaide and it was up for grabs, we decided to give it a go and start talking and hanging out.

‘Then he ended up getting drafted to the West Coast and moved, but we thought we’d give it a try and move on.

“It’s not that difficult, they play in Melbourne quite often so I’ve been seeing a lot more of it than I thought I would, it’s been fun.”
