A new father welcomed his first child in the world in a tragedy after his fiancé died in childbirth.
Shelly Cockburn, 29, from Maketu on the northern island of New Zealand had a pregnancy without complications before suffering from chest pain when she gave birth to her baby daughter, Kora earlier this month.

& # 39; When she got her attack or attack, they pressed an emergency button and all doctors came running in, & # 39; said Mr. Ross.
Mr. Ross and Shelly's mother was told to leave the room, while the doctors had exhausted all options to keep her alive.
After performing a caesarean section, doctors were able to deliver Kora safely, but Shelly was still suffering.
Doctors quickly started CPR with the mother, but were unable to save her.
Ross, anxiously waiting outside the hospital room, said he gave up after hearing the shocking news.
& # 39; We burst into tears. It was very unexpected, & he said.
& # 39; I don't really know how to handle it at the moment. I don't really know where else to go. It's quite hard. It still doesn't really feel real. & # 39;
The young couple was planning to move with their baby girl, but the plans have since been stopped due to the tragic event.
Doctors believe that the attack was caused by an embolism, that is when a piece of material gets stuck in a blood vessel.
